When ChatGPT searches the web, it doesn't send your question. It writes its own query first. We captured 219 of them. Asked for the best project management software for a ten-person agency, ChatGPT ran five searches. The first one already named Asana, ClickUp, Monday, Teamwork and Basecamp. 207 of the 209 unique queries return no data in Google's Keyword Planner. Keyword research cannot see this layer. 36 percent of the queries name a company the person never typed. The shortlist comes from the model's memory, before any search runs. Then it checks. A quarter of the searches go to a vendor's own site, often with official or pricing in the query. And 63 percent add a year the person never asked for. So earn mentions across the web to make the shortlist. Then win the check: prices, limits and specs in plain text, with dates on your facts. Make the shortlist, then win the check. The full study and dataset are on organikpi.com.
